Best Marine Supply Stores on Lake St. Clair

Lake St. Clair boaters have real choices for parts: independent shops on the Nautical Mile and in Harrison Township, a wholesale distributor that sometimes sells retail, an electronics installer, a trailer specialist, and the West Marine chain. We ranked them on Google, Yelp, and Birdeye review data, then read the newest reviews for each to see who actually has the part when you call.

Updated

  1. Mike's Marine SupplyParts in stock and staff who know boats

Marine Supply · St. Clair Shores

Mike's has been on the Nautical Mile since 1978, family owned, and the newest 30 Google reviews are nearly all five stars. Reviewers name Bob and Mike directly for tracking down parts other stores didn't have, including one who got a starter sourced same day and another who was let borrow a cable overnight to test the fit before buying it. One reviewer tells people outright to skip West Marine and shop here instead. A few call it pricier than ordering online.

A few reviewers say prices run higher than what you'd pay ordering the same part online.

  2. Luke's Marine Services IncElectronics installs, wiring, and rigging done right

    Marine Supply · Harrison Township

Luke's is an electronics and rigging shop, not a parts counter: chartplotters, radar, stereo systems, engine rewiring, and jobs like a stern thruster install with full Raymarine Axiom integration. Steve and his crew get named directly in nearly every review for showing up on time and explaining the job before starting, and several customers have used them across three or four different boats over the years. Two older reviews are a hard miss, including one where a job ran about $2,000 over the original quote.

This is an installer, not a walk-in supply store, and one review describes a job that ran well over the quoted price.

  3. Midwest Marine SupplyHard-to-find parts, if they'll sell to you

Marine Supply · St. Clair Shores

Midwest has run out of the same Jefferson Ave building since 1969 and started as a wholesale distributor to the trades, which still shows in the reviews: praise runs toward big inventory and staff who track down obscure parts, like a Wave Armor dock system for a Seadoo Switch. One reviewer summed it up: "If they don't have marine related parts you don't need them." Two 2025 reviews describe real problems getting a call back, including one customer who says $712 of marine stairs never shipped and nobody would respond.

This is a wholesale-oriented distributor first, so call ahead to confirm they'll sell to you as a retail customer, and note the unresolved shipping complaint above.

  4. West MarineOne stop for standard boating gear at chain hours

    Marine Supply · Harrison Township

West Marine is the national chain, but the Harrison Township store draws real loyalty: reviewers single out assistant manager Ben by name for helping pick out life jackets and finding items other stores didn't have, and people like that it price matches items sold and shipped by Amazon. The recurring complaint is price. Three of the last 30 reviews call it too high, one saying they paid almost ten dollars for two small parts, and one reviewer wrote to go to Mike's Marine down the street instead.

The most common gripe in recent reviews is price, especially compared to ordering the same gear online.

  5. Joe's Trailer Sales Inc.Trailer hitches, bearings, and brake work

Marine Supply · St. Clair Shores

Joe's has been a St. Clair Shores fixture for trailer parts and repair for decades: bearing and brake emergencies, hitch installs, and hard to find trailer parts other places don't stock. Recent reviews describe fast turnarounds on brake and bearing jobs and staff who track down parts by phone for out of town customers passing through. The gripe that shows up more than once: a rushed hitch install in April 2026 left a customer with exhaust damage, and older reviews describe bearings failing again within months and rude counter service.

A recent review describes exhaust damage from a hitch install, and it's not the place for boat parts beyond trailers, wheels, and hitches.

Honorable mentions

  • Marine Sales & Repair Inc Earl specializes in vintage Chris-Craft and hard to find antique boat parts nobody else stocks, but reviews split hard on pricing and counter service, so ask the price before you commit.

How we ranked these

Ranked on Google rating and review count, adjusted so a handful of five-star reviews can't beat a large proven track record, then checked against Yelp and Birdeye ratings and the newest 30 Google reviews per shop for recent themes. Two Reddit searches in r/Detroit for these business names turned up nothing relevant. Nextdoor pages show no public recommendation counts.

Ranks come from Google reviews, Reddit, forums, and niche review sites. Sponsorship never changes rank. We re-check these lists each season.
